Sorry, we can't help with asbestos. In NSW it needs a licensed asbestos removalist.

A full house clearance is a different job from picking up a pile of junk. It usually means going room by room through a whole home, including the garage, the shed and the roof space, and often happens at an emotional or stressful time: after a death in the family, when parents downsize into care, at the end of a long tenancy, or before a property goes on the market.

What a good clearance crew does

  • Walks through with you first so it's clear what stays, what goes, and what should be set aside for family.
  • Sorts as they go. Reasonable furniture and household goods can often be donated, metals and whitegoods recycled, and only the rest goes to landfill.
  • Works carefully around the property, protecting floors and door frames on the way out.
  • Leaves it broom-clean and ready for cleaners, painters or a property manager.

Deceased estate clean-outs

If you're clearing a family member's home, take your time before the crew arrives. Look for paperwork, photos, jewellery, keys and anything with sentimental value, and keep it in one clearly marked room. Tell the crew on the phone that it's an estate clean-out. The best operators are used to these jobs and will work respectfully and at your pace.

How big is a house clearance?

A full three or four bedroom home can easily fill one or more trucks, especially with a packed garage. Pick "Whole house or commercial clearance" (or "Big job" for multi-truck estates) in the form and the crew will usually want to see photos or do a quick site visit before giving a firm price.

No asbestos, sorry. We don't arrange asbestos removal. In NSW, any friable asbestos and more than 10mΒ² of bonded asbestos must be removed by a licensed asbestos removalist. If you suspect asbestos (common in homes built or renovated before 1990), leave it alone and get it tested.

Frequently asked questions

Will the crew sort donations from rubbish?

Many do. Ask on the call. Operators who sort for donation and recycling are often happy to do it, and it can reduce how much goes to landfill.

Do I need to be there?

It's best to be there at the start to confirm what's going. Some families give the crew access and come back at the end, but agree on that first.

Can you clear a hoarding situation?

Often, yes. Mention it on the call so the crew can bring enough people and plan the job safely. Hoarded homes can hide hazards, so a site visit is common.
